(Durham, NC) A campus religious leader is unhappy about a study at Duke University that invites female students to attend parties where they can buy sex toys.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that the director of the Duke Catholic Center has lodged a complaint with researchers. The Rev. Joe Vetter says the study doesn't promote relationships.
An interesting study. I wonder if hearing about this in a non-judgmental setting changes any of the women's opinions?

Odd... I wasn't aware a 'study' was meant to promote things.
Not to my knowledge. A study is find out what exists.
These aren't new, or unique to Duke. Women run these all over the country. There are women who throw these parties, and educate other young women about sex-toys. The organizers are usually a group of students, who call someone who organizes these parties professionally, to come host an event for the students. They aren't exactly "studies," but students in human sexuality courses often use them for research (and fun).
Never heard about these being protested before but, then again, when I found out about them, I was at university in San Francisco.
I think this time it was actually a study because of the surveys before and after. And, yes, these are quite fun. I have a couple of friends who do this.

Hey, fun and science, together for the first time since they let us make volcanoes when we were ten? Sounds good.
Who says science can't be kind of hot? Of course, this is nothing more than the perpetration of a false controversy. They should stick their nose out of these women's business.
